Dopapod have kept fans waiting for over a year since their last performance on New Years Eve 2017, but speculation of the band’s future can end today. “We’re all incredibly excited to bring the band back together to usher in the next chapter of Dopapod,” keyboardist Eli Winderman shares. “We’ve been blown away by the amount of speculation on our return and just the overall love and support surrounding the band.”
Dopapod have announced they will reunite on April 27th, 2019 for their debut performance at Port Chester, NY’s historic Capitol Theatre. “There is so much history at The Cap and it’s truly an honor to be a part of that,” continues Winderman. “We’re looking forward to doing our thing there and it just felt like the perfect venue to bring the band back.” So far, this is the band’s only performance planned.
The four members of Dopapod have been busy during their year long performing hiatus. Lead guitarist/vocalist Rob Compa wrote and recorded his first solo album and has been playing alongside different bands including an African band called Barika. Eli Winderman found himself working on Octave Cat’s latest full length LP, and started a weekly funk show named “Funk ‘n’ Bowl” in Philadelphia. Bassist Chuck Jones and drummer Neal “Fro” Evans took their talents to the road to tour under their other moniker, Mom And Dad.
“This last year was much needed for all of us,” continues Winderman. “We all were able to explore other musical avenues in our lives and it really helped inspire everyone.” Members of Dopapod cited performance fatigue as a big reason for their year long break, after performing over 100 times a year in the years prior to 2018. But Dopapod is back, and they are ready to show what fans have been missing for the past 12 months.
