PIGEONS PLAYING PING PONG ANNOUNCE FIRST STRING OF 2019 TOUR DATES

After a groundbreaking 4-night Halloween run this past weekend, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are excited to share their first string of 2019 tour dates.
Included among the newly announced dates are the band’s first headlining play in Chicago since 2017 (2/15 at Concord Music Hall); their first run through Florida since 2016 – with stops in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay and Ft. Lauderdale; and a quick return to Virginia with plays in Charlottesville (1/30) and Norfolk (1/31). Mungion and The Fritz will also join for support on select dates.
Artist presale is going on now until tomorrow, November 8th at 10 AM local time. General on sale is this coming Friday, November 9th at 10 AM local with more information available here: pigeonsplayingpingpong.com/tour-dates.
This news promptly follows the band’s groundbreaking 4-night “Red Hot Sergeant Peppers” Halloween run, which saw sold-out performances at The National in Richmond, VA and over both nights The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA. The setlist was completely unique each night with different mashups, song selections and nonstop surprises throughout.
Setlist Night 1October 31, 2018 @ The National (Richmond, VA)

Setlist Night 2November 1, 2018 @ Neighborhood Theatre (Charlotte, NC)

Setlist Night 3November 2, 2018 @ Variety Playhouse (Atlanta, GA)

Setlist Night 4November 3, 2018 @ Variety Playhouse (Atlanta, GA)
The run began with the crowd singing “Happy Birthday” to frontman Scrambled Greg Ormont on 10/31 in Richmond, VA and the classic “Birthday” by none other than The Beatles was played later that night.
Terminus Horns joined the band on the first night in Atlanta (trumpet, trombone and saxophone from ATL) for “Fun in Funk” and “Live It Up,” which marks the first ever time these songs were played live with a horns section. The Terminus Horns came out dressed like salt and pepper shakers, so frontman Greg jokingly introduced them as the “Terminus Shakers” and said they “transformed the band into spicy peppers”.
Over the four nights, attendees were surprised with 15+ cover debuts, including The Beatles’ “I Am The Walrus” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers’ classics like “Give It Away” and “Around The World,” plus the first complete version of “Otherside.”
Covers dating back as far as 2012 were also dusted off and thrown into the mix. On the final night at the sold-out Variety Playhouse, the band surprised fans by putting a twist on the theme and mixing Grateful Dead covers into the material for a night of “Dead Hot Seargent Peppers.”

Fittingly, PPPP wore red Sergeant Peppers jackets with custom patches on the back reminiscent of the classic RHCP symbol, completing their outfits with white pants which featured black tribal designs from the RHCP album Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

Given the band’s history of putting together unique themes for their Halloween and New Year’s Eve sets, fans can only anticipate what’s planned for New Year’s Eve 2019. Stay tuned!
