TwidGeonDwellers and The Road to Red Rocks

By Michael Broerman

Coming this summer: the most ambitious crossover in history… TwidGeonDwellers.  That’s right: Twiddle, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Kitchen Dwellers sharing one bill and ultimately leading to a highly anticipated, collaborative set Thursday, May 2 at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.

However, Colorado won’t be getting all of fun, as Twiddle and Pigeons will be teaming up for a five night-run of co-headlining sets throughout the midwest on their way to Morrison, which will be billed as the “Road to Red Rocks” tour.  At these shows, each band will play one full set and alternate closing out the night at each show.  And who knows, while one band is waiting in the wings a member or two might decide it’s the perfect time for a sit-in.  Considering the penultimate collaborative set at Red Rocks, the Road to Red Rocks will most certainly be paved with sit-ins, special guests and collaborations.

The Road to Red Rocks tour will start April 24 in Columbia, MO at the Blue Note, next to Urbana, IL at The Canopy Club, followed by a night at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI, then Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN, and the final performance of the Road happening at Slowdown in Omaha, NE on April 28.

And to get even more into the funking mood, the groups have made a collaborative playlist of collaborations on Soundcloud for your jamming pleasure, including a “Burning Up My Time” cover by Kitchen Dwellers and “Ghostbusters” featuring Twiddle and Pigeons together in Boulder, Colorado.  Tickets are available for the “Road to Red Rocks” tour, including the big finale, are available through the Twiddle and Pigeons websites.
