It was announced today that electronic outfit Tycho will be releasing a new album, entitled Weather, this summer, an endeavour that will be supported by a worldwide tour.
Tycho, real name Scott Hansen, also shared a single from the album called “Pink & Blue” that features vocalist Hannah Cottrell, also known as Saint Sinner. It is significant that “Pink & Blue” is the first single from Weather available because of the emphasis it puts on Cottrell’s vocals, making them the centerpiece of the song instead of merely adding to the ambiance like vocals on previous Tycho songs.

The song’s music video is the first Tycho video that Hansen has had direct and intimate influence over, acting as creative director. The song’s lyrics are also a personal outpouring from Cottrell, who uses the song as an opportunity to spread a message of self-acceptance, even during times of personal confusion.
“The lines, ‘Oh, pink and blue, you know I look good on you’, originally stemmed from when I was romantically involved with a man and a woman simultaneously, for the first time in my life.” Cottrell said. “It was a defining moment for me. I went from being a young religious kid who thought she would marry a man to a young woman who realised her love for women. Pink & Blue’ is a love song to no one, to everyone, and to myself. It’s a sweet reminder to all lovers to hold onto their love with open arms; to be fearless about any type of love and to be fearless about losing their love. Love is never lost.”
In addition to the album announcement and single release, Tycho also shared a schedule for the Weather World Tour that begins in July with three dates across Australia and then one night in Japan at the Fuji Rock Festival. The tour then resumes in September with a performances at both Greek Theaters in California, before making its way eastward through the United States and Canada. After that the tour will have another break before the final European leg, beginning in February with a performance in Norway before a marathon run through Europe featuring 17 shows in 14 countries over the course of 26 days.
Tycho will be joined by longtime collaborators Zac Brown (guitar/bass) and Rory O’Connor (drums), as well as touring member Billy Kim (keyboard, guitar, bass) and Saint Sinner who will provide vocal accompaniment (a possible indication that she will be featured on more of Weather).
Weather is available to pre-order here and tickets for the Weather World Tour can be purchased here. See the full tour schedule below.
